Tree Planting Community Service

Screenshot
These photo was taken when we were plan

Hey all! In this blog I’m going to talk about how my school went to go plant trees! We went to a beautiful park in Durham with an organization called Keep Durham Beautiful leading us through this journey! The City of Durham is planting 8,500 trees in neighborhoods and parks! Keep Durham Beautiful is helping our community to become better than before!

Like what I am about to tell you about! Our community went to a park and planted trees! The employees gave us an all hands in demonstration on how to plant a tree. Then off we went on our adventure! We had to dig up a deep hole and soften up the dirt and roots of our tree before we put it in. Then after that we had to pack the dirt right back into the hole, and just like that we were done! It’s that easy to plant a tree!

It’s history time! We all planted trees in Hillside park! In 1922 they built a Hillside Park High School on the property. This high school was the first high shook in Durham to educate black students. Before this school came to be there was only a middle school for black students that ended in 8th grade, then after that there was no high school for them 😕. This became very popular and a big hit!

Thanks so much for learning about what I did and some history behind it! Bye!

Drawing!

Hey guys! I am back posting about something different today! You guys probably don’t know, but I love to draw! I like to draw in my free time when I feel like I need something to do! I like to draw in the realistic genre, specifically people! Also these drawings do take me about 2-3 hours depending on what I am drawing. Do you all draw? If so I would like to see your drawing sometime! Here are 2 of my favorite drawings of this year! Bye!

I drew these and took these photos

Don Quixote

Screenshot these photos are from the Creative Commons license

Hey guys! Guess what? I am starting a new ballet!!!! This ballet is called Don Quixote, and it is a pretty funny weird ballet! I am not really sure what it is about but I do know that this main character guy falls asleep and dreams about this really weird world that he is in. Anyway, auditions were actually pretty hard. I had to go on pointe and learn dances and preform them in front of judges!! But I ended up getting some pretty good roles! I got Kitri’s friend, I am in a trio for the puppet show, and I am a fairy! All three of these roles are on POINTE isn’t that crazy! If you are wondering about who Kitri even is, well I’ll tell you! Kitri is in this crazy man’s dream. She is one of the main characters, and I am her friend! I hope you can learn about the story about Don Quixote before I do!

Another Snow Day!

Hey guys! Can you believe it, we have another snow day! On Sunday it started snowing and it was snow pretty consistently. Then I went outside and the texture of the snow was so soft and powdery, so when I would step on it my foot would disappear into that soft snow! But of course I had to try and go sledding… let’s just say that was maybe the worst sledding experience I have ever had 😔. But the snow was amazing for snow angles 💕.  I am really happy that we got about 3-5 inches of snow because I had more snow to make snow balls or snowmen☃️. I hope the ones that got snow really enjoyed it! Bye!

Snow Day

Hey guys! In this blog I will be telling you about the snow we got and what we did on the days off from school. On Sunday the snow was really good snow for sledding. My dad and I went sledding down our humongous hill which you can’t see all of it in the photo but the hill is super long, I promise! On Monday the snow ended up being the consistency of a slushie that you would get at a movie theater, so as you could assume it was not great for sledding. But I do get sad as it slowly melts, but the snow was really fun to play in so I am hoping that it will S.N.O.W more this year! Bye!

My Snake Research!

This is a photo that I took, I drew the snake and wrote the info as well.

Hey guys! Today I am going to blog about something I usually don’t do, but I am going to tell you about my snake project! In class we have been reading a book called SQUIRM written by Carl Hiaasen. While we were reading this book we got an opportunity to research a snake and draw it. I chose to research the Hairy Bush Viper. Here is some info I wrote about my snake!

The Hairy Bush Viper also named Atheris Hispida has scales that point up making a “shaggy hair” look. Some people say they look like tiny dragons! Hairy Bush Vipers live in Central Africa in the tropical rainforests. Hairy Bush vipers have a less toxic venom compared to other snakes. When Hairy Bush vipers are fully grown their length can get up to 30 inches long! Hairy Bush Vipers act as predators that control rodent populations, which means no more mice! They are nocturnal hunters. Hairy Bush Vipers are amazing at climbing, you might see one hanging from a tree! One thing you should know about snakes is that they aren’t as bad as you think they are, because they are harmless unless you do something to them that could threaten them. The main thing is to treat everyone (and every snake) how you want to be treated!

I hope you can look up this snake and maybe read the awesome book SQUIRM! BYE!

My Favorite Food

Screenshot this is the Creative Commons license, this photo is not exactly paya because it was hard to find photos of it, this is still goat stew but this is Korean.

Hey guys! I am going to do something a little different in my blog today. I going to talk about my favorite food!

My favorite food is goat stew but is also called paya. Paya is made with broth that is very spicy and some goat meat. I know some people don’t like spicy food but I loooovve spicy food! Yummy! Paya is a traditional Pakistani dish that is usually eaten with naan. Here’s a fun fact about paya, did you know that paya is typically a dish that only men eat!?! Isn’t that crazy! But now everyone is welcome to eat paya whenever they want! Go try paya! It’s delicious!

Nutcracker Season Comes to an End

Screenshot I got these photos from a Creative Commons license

Hey guys! I just finished all my performances for the Nutcracker a week ago! I am not going to lie, it was exhausting, and I am still recovering from it. I had a tech rehearsal on Tuesday which was 5 hours 😓! On Wednesday it was opening night and special needs people came and we got to sign autographs for them 💕! On Thursday we had people come and watch as well! On Friday I had to wake up super early and schools took a field trip to watch us, including my school! Later that Friday we had a regular performance, and on Saturday a had a double show day😅! On Sunday thankfully we had the day off, and then Monday morning there I was ready to go to school for a whole week again. On the last show it was very chaotic because all of the people were exchanging gifts, I got a lot too 🎁! Well I am sad its over, but I have a dance festival coming up, so stay tuned!

Winter Break

Hey guys! I am so exited for winter break, are you?!? Well, I am going to my grandmas house on my moms side of the family. She lives in Asheville, that’s about a 3 hour drive! The thing I am most exited about is going to the Biltmore! Have you ever heard of the built more? Well I’ll tell you! It is a house that is ginormous! In 1895 it was the largest home in America! It opened for people to tour like schools. Now it is an even bigger place for tourists to visit. It shows how fancy dinners used to look like in 1895 and what bedrooms and offices looked like as well. I have been before, but I haven’t been there when the Christmas Lights were up, so its going to look so beautiful! I am so exited! Enjoy your break!

Wisdom Tales

I drew this comic

Hey guys! I am going to talk about my Wisdom tales comic that I made.

Wisdom Tales is a book with multiple tales. I read a tale called Feeding his Clothes. It is about this guy (named Mulla) that comes to a party but gets sat in the back. When he gets in he is not getting any of the food because by the time they get to him they run out. So he got out of the party, freshened up, and got very nice clothes from his friend. He came back looking very nice and the butlers at the party thought he was a prince. So he got sat at the front and got all the good food. At the end he started “feeding his clothes” (aka rubbing food on them) because he was saying thank you for getting me good service. That’s the end! I also drew a whole comic based on the story too.
